Project Description

Thanks to Chrystal Perez de Tagle for this write-up!

The Boracay Bumshells was formed in 2009 with some experienced paddlers from other Boracay teams plus new recruits. Since we live in the paradise island of Boracay, which is famous for pucca shells, and the beach bum lives we sometimes lead, the team felt that  “Bumshells”  was an exciting new name for a team. And it has been exciting since 2009, when the team competed in Penang and won silver losing the gold by a hairline. This was after competing in the 3rd Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival.

To be true to the  Bumshell name, one should be serious in having fun while we train to be fit, healthy, and happy. Attendance is the basis to secure a seat for the races, but we also prioritize fun—the Bumshells are awarded every year for Best Costume or Best Performance prizes in opening ceremony presentations, whether in Boracay or abroad.

Boracay Bumshells

Since we started, the Boracay Bumshells team has evolved in more ways than one, from a new team growing stronger very year. One of our crowning achievements was winning over the unbeatable Fleet Marine in one race. In all these years, the Bumshells have raced in Camarines Sur, Hong Kong, and Penang. The Boracay Bumshells bring fun to any race!

To join the Bumshells, message us at the Boracay Bumshells Facebook page. We welcome women of all ages who aim to be fit and have fun. See you at the Boracay races!
